Take Time Off

Take Time Off

Hello Spiritual Soldiers,

I hope y’all are settling into this week with some peace in your spirit. Lately, I’ve really been emphasizing the importance of taking time off. We’re constantly bombarded with this idea that we have to work non-stop just to make ends meet—or to live a life that looks comfortable or wealthy. But lately, I’ve been asking myself: Is this really how I want to spend my days?

Forty hours a week. Deadlines. Stress. Then somehow trying to squeeze in time to be present after the workday ends. That, too, is a form of congestion—self congestion. It's the constant consumption of expectations, responsibilities, and the anxiety of trying to keep everything in balance. And let’s be real—many of us wear more than one hat. You could be working, in school, raising kids, caregiving, all at once. Some days it really feels like there aren’t enough hours to get through it all.

That’s exactly why taking time off is necessary. You’ve got to give yourself space to breathe and reconnect with the present. Even a single day off can shift your mood and realign your energy. That was my intention two weeks ago.

I took a full week off. Beach hopped. Disconnected. Regrounded. I spent time in nature—one of my favorite ways to recharge. I barely touched my phone, didn’t check emails, didn’t even think about schoolwork. I just allowed myself to be. And in that stillness, I started to feel like I could breathe again.

I also got to be home with my wife, our dogs, and our cats—and truly be with them. Not rushing through the evening. Not trying to beat the clock to wind down. Just… present. That reset was everything after months of being wrapped up in work and school.

We often forget to care for ourselves in the most basic ways. Finding a true balance between living and working is one of the greatest challenges we face as humans. So I want to challenge you: take time off when you can. Rest when you need to. And remember—you deserve to feel whole and rested.

Because at the end of the day, time keeps moving. The question is: how do you want to be spending yours?
